Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Morehead City vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Luxury Condo On North Carolina's Crystal Coast has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
