Our top Rental booking tips:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Morehead City area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beachfront Condo with Amazing Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
