Situated on a prime soundfront spot in the beach town of Salter Path, Crab Shack is a prized destination for roll-your-sleeves-up southern seafood feasts in a casual, and yet romantically waterfront destination.

Patrons can watch local shrimp boats and small commercial fishing vessels pull up to the adjacent docks as they dive into heaping seafood plates, that can include a combination of 2 or 3 specialties, like fried clams, scallops, crab cakes, soft shell crabs, scallops, or even deviled crabs – a local specialty. Additional highlights on the seafood-centric menu include the scallops or oysters wrapped in bacon, the stuffed shrimp, and whatever local specials have been hauled from the docks and have landed on the specials board. In addition to these prime southern and coastal staples, diners will also find a range of appetizers, salads, and regional side dishes, including skinny banana-shaped hushpuppies and fried okra. A separate steamer menu makes deciding on a seafood favorite an even more difficult task, and there’s also a kids menu and mainland menu for patrons who aren’t in a sea-faring mood.

With a nicely casual atmosphere, a prime waterfront view, and a menu that’s overstuffed with coastal fare, seafood lovers will find plenty to love about the small but charming, and aptly named, Crab Shack.

It should be noted that “comfort animals” or “emotional support animals” are not afforded any accommodations under either the North Carolina General Statutes or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).♦ Supervision of kids is imperative, especially around waterside and pools. No lifeguards on duty.♦ Pools are not open year-round. Electric Car charging station is available in Emerald Isle, near the Islander Hotel.♦ Please do not disturb the oyster sill or rocks lining the sound side waterfront.
