Strategies to get the optimal rental experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Morehead City area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Spacious 1BR 1BA with Full Kitchen and Living Room - 3 min walk to the beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If not, email the host before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City beach you are enamored with, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Additional considerations:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
