Want to sip an ice cold beer while enjoying the sand between your toes? Then hop off the beach and stroll over to Idle Hour Biergarten. This unique addition to the Atlantic Beach dining scene features a vast assortment of brews by the glass, stein or can, (as well as wine and cocktails), and features sunny seating both indoors and outside on a sandy patio with large picnic tables.
While the beer is the big attraction, hungry patrons will find an exceptional menu as well, with plenty of flavorful German influences. Patrons can chow down on German sausages, schnitzel, beer and cheese soup, and other global favorites, as well as beach-side staples, like crab cake sandwiches, fried oysters, and the I.H. signature burger. Divided into appetizers, large plates, sausages and sides, the menu is a refreshing divergence from the typical beach fare. Local favorites include the Bavarian Grilled Cheese, (with gruyere, Muenster, Havarti, and tomato jam on sourdough), as well as the house cut fries and cool cured tomato and cucumber relish.
Fun, friendly and completely unique, the Idle Hour Biergarten is Atlantic Beach’s new favorite post-beach spot for ice cold brews and deliciously different beach cuisine.
