Our top Beaufort vacation rental tips and tricks:

Get the best value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Morehead City area. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Keeper's Retreat, Townhouse in Historical Beaufort, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
