How to find the best rental experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Morehead City restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Blue Heron (NEW HOME with lower price, please come and stay!) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City beach you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
