Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Morehead City vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Morehead City rental home & When to go:

  • To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Front With Ocean Views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
