Tricks and tips to get the very best Morehead City rental home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer time is high season in the Morehead City area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Lighthouse Cottage DOG FRIENDLY -Historic District has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your group.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
