Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Morehead City vacation home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and choosing the bestrental:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Serene Marina Condo has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your family.
  • If there's a particular Morehead City destination you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
