Our top Vacation rental home tips:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. To find the best value, try changing your family's Morehead City vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Atlantic Beach:

  • To start, have your group decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Newly Remodeled Charming Beach Cottage with Private Pool in Historic Salter Path has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

During your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
