Strategies for getting the best Morehead City vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Finding the perfect vacation home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Modern townhome with elevator! - 5 min walk to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
