Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Morehead City area. To get the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Beachwalk 113, Oceanfront Condo in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
