Tips to get the best Beaufort vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Morehead City area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking your Morehead City rental home:

  • Start by having your group select trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Relax Down East in this home near Beaufort & Cape Lookout has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
