Strategies to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Morehead City area. To find the best vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Anchor Management - Emerald Isle NC Home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
