Our top Rental home booking tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the best rental:

  • Start by having your family decide on a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Wide, Sandy Beaches Await You! has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
