How to find the best New Bern vacation rental experience:

Find your best deal:

  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in New Bern. To get the best rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Morehead City restaurants and activities.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • First and foremost, have your family select trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. The Grey Goose (Waterfront) Historic New Bern - Private Beach - BRING YOUR BOAT! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
