Tricks and tips to get the perfect Morehead City vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summertime is high season in New Bern. Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best rental:

  • To start, have your family choose trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. The Grey Goose (Waterfront) Historic New Bern - Private Beach - BRING YOUR BOAT! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
