Tips for getting the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

Get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your group decide on date ranges and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Sound Of The Sea West 301, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
