Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Morehead City area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Pet Friendly, Ocean Front, 3 Ensuite BR! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
