Our top Emerald Isle rental home booking tips:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Perfect Oceanfront Cottage With Private Pool: Sea Glass has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
