Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Olde Towne Yacht Club 215, Soundfront Condo in Beaufort, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
