Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:

When to visit New Bern & When to book:

  • Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Conveniently Located 3 Bedroom 2 Bathroom has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular Morehead City beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
