Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Morehead City vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Fun in the sun only steps from your door! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
