Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer months are high season in Atlantic Beach. To find the best rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best vacation rental:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful oceanside cottage, steps away from the beach. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
