Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book a perfectrental home:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Beautiful cottage w\/ocean views - steps away from the beach! Dog Friendly! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
