Vacation rental home tips:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Pine Knoll Shores. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Morehead City restaurants and activities.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beachwalk 116, Oceanfront Condo in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
