How to get the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing and booking a perfect Morehead City rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Large Home on Bogue Sound - Fish from the Dock* has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
