Rental home booking tips:

How to get the best value:

  • To get the best value, try changing your family's Morehead City vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Morehead City area:

  • To start, have your family commit to vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Updated 3rd-Floor Home With Courtyard & Partial Beach View, Shared Pools/Hot Tub has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
