Tips for getting the best Atlantic Beach vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer months are high season in Atlantic Beach. To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Finding the best vacation rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Third-row beach cottage with deck, grill, washer/dryer & screened porch has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.

  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.

  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective.
