Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • To find the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

How to select the best vacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Fisherman's Dream, Soundfront House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a particular Morehead City attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
