Getting the best vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Beaufort. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Temple Cottage - Dog Friendly - Walk to downtown has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If not, email the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
