New Bern vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Finding the best value:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer months are high season in New Bern. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Morehead City attractions.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental in New Bern:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. The Sanderling Tiny Cabin Water Access/Private Shared dock has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
