Vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting the best rental home in the Morehead City area:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Sunny Days & Salty Vibes – Family Fun at Southwinds H10! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
