Tips to get the perfect Morehead City vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. To find the best rental within your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing and booking a perfectrental:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pennies From Heaven, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
