Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Morehead City vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book the perfectrental:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront corner 3 Bedroom 2 Bath first floor condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
