Strategies to get the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. OCEAN & SOUND VIEWS - Beach Access Right Out Front!! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
