Getting the best Morehead City vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Morehead City restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting the perfect rental home:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Redone Luxury Waterfront at The Point w\/ Heated Pool, Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Game Rm has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Advice for a great stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
