Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Morehead City rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer months are high season in the Morehead City area. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Morehead City restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Morehead City area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beautiful 2 BR condo/cottage just one block from downtown waterfront! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
