Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Morehead City vacation rental experience:

When to visit Beaufort & When to book:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your Morehead City vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Spacious Loft on Middle Lane in Historic Downtown Beaufort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. text the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
