How to book the best Morehead City rental home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in New Bern. Book your Morehead City rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick your Morehead City rental:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 2 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Have a great stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
