Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking your Morehead City vacation home:

  • Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 2 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
