Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Emerald Isle rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Morehead City area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Just a Fluke - Ocean cottage 2nd row has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a particular Morehead City beach you long to visit, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
