Welcome! You’re on beach time at The Chatty Dolphin!

Rest, relax and recharge. We’re all about having fun in a casual beach setting and hope our home away from home provides this for you too! The area has so much to offer and this location is unique to the island as a nature and animal lover's delight! Pet friendly with additional fee. Eateries right around the corner, and 41 acre park just a short walk out the back door!

A private hot tub overlooks the wooded backyard, gazing up into the tree canopy. Turn on the jets, changing color lights and waterfall and take in the generous sounds of nature. For additional ambience, string lights adorning the sky can be turned on as well, and LED tiki torches come on each nighttime.

An outdoor shower makes post beach clean-up of your family (including the four-legged ones) a breeze with hot and cold water, along with a close by hose for cleaning up beach gear.

With the addition of an outdoor dining table, family seating for six is adjacent to the wood fired pizza oven. The pizza oven is a fun and exceptional way to make dining an experience without ever going out. Dough, sauce and cheese to get started with are supplied along with all the tools and some books for how-to and fun recipe ideas. Also great for baking bread, cedar planked salmon, pizookie cookies, cobbler, cast iron cinnamon rolls and more! Yum!

Winding down? Savor hot cocoa and cider included while roasting S’mores on the firepit. S'mores materials all supplied! Firewood and hard wood for cooking are available for purchase at local grocery stores, Ace and Walmart; a bundle of complimentary hard wood is supplied to get you started.

On the back deck are the relaxing sounds of the fountain coupled with handcrafted cedar bench and planter full of fresh herbs for your cooking enjoyment. A stainless grille is on the back deck and ready to make your next meal.

Inside the kitchen we have an Instant Pot, Ninja Blender and Bread Machine. The bread machine can be set on a timer to make and bake so you wake to the enticing aroma of fresh baked bread. Sourdough boxed mix and additional bread flower and yeast are included along with a recipe ideas book. Nothing like fresh sourdough paired with the local catch on a coastal evening, or paired with some traditional local chowder.

Some of the kitchen appliances are a little older, but American made and still going strong. Nearly any spice or cookware item you’d wish to use while cooking is probably outfitted in this kitchen, as we adore to prepare and try new local recipes! Stainless pans, pots and cookware. In the summer the Ninja hooks us up with invigorating smoothies after visiting the close by farmers markets and in the fall and winter we find ourselves making soup with the Instant Pot and Ninja which saves time and money to spend on the fun stuff while traveling. A Kuerig, k-cups, tea, sugar, honey and creamer are supplied.

In the master bedroom is a King size bed and attached bathroom with enormous shower. Plush bath towels (XXL bath sheets), hand towels and wash clothes are supplied two per each room. The other bedrooms are each Queen beds with a guest bathroom separating them (shower/tub unit). All linens are included, and everything is washed between guests, comforter/duvet covers and all throw blankets too!

In the Laundry Nook you’ll find beach towels, and spa towels for the hot tub. Broom and dustpan, handheld broom and dustpan, handheld vacuum, detergent, wool dryer balls, first aid kit. A stand-up vacuum is in a guest room closet also.

In the living room you’ll find two plush couches that are additional soft and comfortable! Apple TV device which you can login to your subscription channels, i.e., Netflix, Prime, Disney +, Hulu and more is ready for you. In addition a DVD player with DVD’s is ready for use, and a CD player with CDs. Board games, books, an electric fireplace and cozy throw blankets make the space ready to appreciate. The fireplace can be appreciated with or without heat.

Munchies are covered with sweet and savory complimentary snacks on-hand in the snack tower.

Beach access: A few mins. drive to the public beach accesses on Ocean Drive (which has golf cart parking too, if you're renting a golf cart) or a ~14 min. walk.

Parking: Plenty of parking on the driveway with room to park a boat also. (Please, no parking on the grass/yard).

Location: A tad inland on the Sound side of Emerald Isle, adjacent to 41-acre park with dog-friendly trails, disc golf and kayak launch. Dining such as Gaffer’s and Lazzara’s Pizza and Subs, ice cream and candy are just around the corner. Water park, fuel and go-karts close by. We appreciate all the cool wildlife we get to see and experience with this location that we otherwise wouldn’t see elsewhere on the island; it’s a special place.

Emerald Isle is full of so many fun things to do that it’s essential to have a peaceful place to recharge! We’re that place, cozy and on a peaceful street. Thank you for considering your next stay at The Chatty Dolphin!

Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Morehead City area. To get the best value, shift your family's Morehead City trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Morehead City area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing yourrental:

  • First, have your group select dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Family Entertainment Beach House, Hot tub has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
