Tips to get the optimal rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Morehead City rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Mermaid Cottage in Beau Coast Neighborhood Beaufort, NC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
