Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Morehead City area. Booking your Morehead City vacation home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Cozy Beach Getaway at APATB! Sandy beaches & Pools #140 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is best for your trip.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
