Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. To get the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Morehead City attractions and restaurants.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking yourrental:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Charming dog-friendly townhouse with ocean view, beach access, & W\/D has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
