Tips to get the perfect Morehead City rental home experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • First, have your group select dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Barbara's Dream has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
