Strategies for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

When to book a Morehead City rental home & When to go:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book the perfectrental home:

  • To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Dogs OK! 4BR 2nd Row Duplex w/ FANTASTIC Ocean Views! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
