How to book the best Morehead City rental experience:

When to book a Morehead City rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. New Chic Space! 5 minutes to downtown has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
