Tips and Tricks to get the best Morehead City vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose and book a perfectvacation home:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. The Emerald Cottage - renovated 1950s beach cottage one block to beach , hot tub has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your family.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
