Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. Reserve your Morehead City rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking your Morehead City vacation home:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Sound Of The Sea East 109, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
